Okay, let me get this straight. I see you’re saying two things here:

1) Science isn’t always objective.
2) There is no objectivity to be had here whatsoever, so the opinions of PoC are all we have to go by.

First point: I see your point - Tuskegee, Zimbardo, etc. are all proof that not all so-called “scientists” know what they’re doing - but even so, if they actually find anything that’s consistently supported by further research, nobody can reject it with opinions and personal experiences alone. (Though I do admit that skepticism of individual experiments is only healthy.)

Second point: if that’s what you really think, then you are indeed the kind of person this post was directed at, and you’re beyond reason. Congratulations.

(ETA: Whoops, forgot to address the first line. If you’re saying that “we are all human” in the context of that post - i.e. where perspective doesn’t matter - is an interjected opinion, then that’s the second-most racist thing I’ve read all week. Congrats yet again.)

However it would appear as those white egotism doesn’t allow them to reflect on pertaining information.

Discussions about racism and culturally related subjects aren’t about vengeance it’s just that people have gotten fed up with white people interjecting opinions when they are of no value. No understanding. That is why people are frustrated.

White people just need to fall back and listen. This isn’t about subjugation.

I’m guessing you only read the first sentence of this post and then only skimmed the rest because you thought it was going to be about something else. Not the way to be.

I’m pretty sure I actually said you guys should own the stage when it comes to opinion stuff. The entire point of this was to distinguish that stuff from the science behind it - and yes, there is indeed (some) science behind it.

Rape is a product of privilege consuming our society. Who benefits the most from privilege?? White cis heterosexual males. Therefore they are the only true people who can carry out a legitimate rape, but only over a less privilege person. The constructs of society have enabled men to rape.

Women can rape, but its not legitimate. Its not spurred by society or privilege. In a way female rapists can also be victims themselves. They are rebelling against society against its constructs of privilege. Men can rape men but again, its not legitimate unless the man getting raped is either gay or trans because then they are less privileged according to societal constructs. If a straight man rapes a straight man it is consensual rape but a straight man would never rape a straight man so its a contradicition in itself.

Psy was an extremely well-known, well-respected musician WELL before Gangnam Style was even fucking thought of. He’s one of the senior musicians of Korea and he gets a lot of respect for his fearless stages and the way he writes songs to say whatever the hell he wants and believes, regardless of the Korean public’s extremely judgmental eye. I’m so sick of the way he’s being treated all around the world ever since Gangnam Style went viral, he’s just being called here and there to do the dance and whatever and then being sent off like he’s just a comedy dud. When he came on Ellen, she didn’t even bother fucking introducing him, he had to interrupt and ask to introduce himself. He came out on stage and she literally just asked him to teach the dance before he even said anything. Like that is so flat out disrespectful are you kidding me.

I’d just like to point out that not all triggers “prompt a horrible flashback that makes someone go into a literally panic attack”. I do agree that it isn’t something that just makes you uncomfortable though. Triggers can also trigger obsessions within you. For instance, I prefer people tag self harm, because while seeing posts about self harm doesn’t make me have a panic attack, it does make me start thinking about cutting and it makes me think about it constantly, and sometimes it causes me to relapse.

Additionally, I prefer people tag posts about rape because while I’m no longer panicky over my abuse, thinking about rape makes me fixate on what happened to me. And once I start thinking about it, I can’t stop. Sometimes I panic. Other times, I don’t. But it still upsets me and causes me to think about it non stop, to the point where it obviously affects my mental health.

Triggers aren’t just for something that brings about panic in you. Triggers are also something that triggers an obsessive tendency that is harmful to you. Trigger warnings are for anything that makes you feel like you’re coming undone, whether you are legitimately having a panic attack or not, if something makes you feel so ill, either physically or mentally, that it affects your way of thinking and your life, then ask someone to tag it with a trigger warning.

I don’t know why but I always thought this was funny!! XD

Some people are upset over the 2006 interview, and vent their frustration by calling Jeffries ugly. Sure, that asshole deserves to be force-fed pure capsaicin until half his digestive system is bleeding, but think about it: by going for his looks to bring him down, you’re supporting the same notion that the value of a person is dictated by their appearance, and you’re no better than he is.
The company is making profits off of an aspect of society that should not exist, while simultaneously supporting its existence. Plenty of other companies do this all the time, and you’re picking on this one guy? Most of Tumblr doesn’t get upset when a school shooter, bomber, serial killer, etc. gets his/her name and face plastered all over the news - worse yet, a lot of bloggers actually sympathize with the killer - and it’s (essentially) the same thing. (News stations profit off of sensationalizing mass murderers, and when they do it, they send the message that killing a lot of people will get you attention.) Money talks. And in this case, the people who have the money are the “cool kids” (as defined by our good friend Jeffries) - and, yes, the thinner kids, too. (Don’t believe me on the first part? Just look at A&F’s prices. The second? Google it - there are studies all over the place.) Everything he said in that interview makes perfect economic sense, and it explains why A&F is still making so much money despite their CEO being a hypocrite and so badly in need of a glossectomy (look it up).
Related to the above, the only people who can have an impact are people who actually bought A&F and/or Hollister clothing before finding out about this. Unless you are directly harming Jeffries’ profits somehow, your “boycott” isn’t doing jack - and even then, considering how huge his company is, you’re still probably not even denting them on your own. This is why I’m not saying I’m boycotting them - as much as I’d encourage it for people who buy those brands, I am not one of those people. (I’m more of an American Eagle guy. No, AE and A&F are not the same company.)
