“perfectly healthy”
How about every

I don’t think this is going to change anything, guys, considering that the people prone to doing this sort of crap typically find some excuse to consider the “offending” relationship unhealthy (ETA: and in need of an end). Doesn’t change the fact that it’s disgusting, though.

Hitler flirting with Eva Braun.

I don’t know how this makes me feel

It makes me feel very uncomfortable

You know what’s so uncomfortable about this? It shows that perhaps one of the most evil men in history, was a human being. That, on occasion, he could be nice, even flirty. That’s not all. You want to see evil people as evil, screaming horrible stuff over a desk with 20 microphones with 20, 000 people saluting them. The evil is clear and recognizable then. This shows a completely different image, it scares you because that means that evil isn’t a stereotype, that evil is not recognizable, that evil could be anyone. It scares you because this shows that could be lurking inside anyone and you’ll never ever know. Maybe in you?

i reblogged this literally like 2 minutes ago, but i want this version because of that comment ^

That comment is one of my favorite post commentaries, because it’s completely right. People aren’t inherently evil. Like good, it’s a role they grow and live into. We have just as much potential to destroy as this man exhibited. And it’s a very eye opening experience to realize that.

does anyone even remember that one time hitler attended that luncheon between world leaders, some guests of which even included china’s socialist leader as well as Stalin. And then when they were ordering, everyone was gladly ordering impressive dishes one after the other, but Hitler placed an order for barley tea and a pheasant (considered a peasant’s meal by standard). When he was questioned as to why he would order something like this in something as grand as a world leader’s congress, he replied,

“I don’t smoke when my people cannot smoke, and I cannot eat when my people are going hungry.”

He wasn’t evil for its own sake, let’s try to remember that despite the countless murders, but for a moment, he did actually believe he was doing something for the good of his countrymen.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE

No, he’s right. Hitler, though extremely wrong in his views, did everything for what he thought would better the lives of his people. It was wrong. It was disgustingly, horribly wrong. But he did not do it because it was evil and he was evil. He did it because he believed it would help Germany and those who needed a better life. Those who don’t understand or even try to understand the human brain will always label men like him as ‘evil’ because it is easier to accept. But he wasn’t ‘evil.’ He felt love and loyalty and responsibilities. He simply took these aspects and morphed them into a twisted, violent thing.

Tumblr is probably the only place we could have this conversation and not be lynched.

All the awards for this post.

To put into context, Germany was one of the countries heavily affected by WW1. The country was riddled with the debt of war, the Treaty of Versailles was unfair for them and pretty much fucked them over, the crazy hyperinflation in their economy… The people were angry and suffering from a war they were (in a basic view) dragged into. For all the horrible things Hitler commanded, at the root of those actions was a belief that it was all for the benefit of Germany, for its people, to bring them out of their suffering toward a better future.

I’m not saying Hitler’s actions are forgivable or that people shouldn’t be mad for what he and those under his command (Himmler!) did, but people aren’t black and white. And since history is basically a record, or a story, of the developments and actions of humans over the ages, it would be a mistake to view the characters who play their parts in it so one-dimensionally.

I never want to lose this commentary. You people are amazing, and are saying what  I’ve been trying to tell my class for years.

Well it’s like that one saying that I can’t quite remember exactly.

But history is told from the point of view of the winners.

This post makes me cry, because the people making these comments, you’re amazing people. You really really are. On a school trip I went to Belgium to visit some memorials, and the graves of the soldiers from the winning countries were all neat and white in rows on hilltops and stuff, and then there was a mass grave with a big black stone tucked away in a dark corner where the Germans are buried, I actually cried because of it, and everyone called me a crazy Nazi for thinking that everyone deserved their own grave. I wish people were as open-minded and intelligent elsewhere as they are here on Tumblr. Nobody is inherently good or evil, and people are so complex that labelling them that way is silly.

Oh yeah there’s this too. (Basically, it’s been all but proven that very few normal people would have defied an order to kill people they can’t see. By extension, most Nazi soldiers weren’t evil - just a bad mix of humble and brainwashed.)

But I lol’d when you called Tumblr open-minded.

Something for all you people into American politics to think about:

According to a study by Sinclair et al., the main reason Bush beat Gore in 2000 was poorly-constructed ballots. If their design was more ergonomic, the confusion in Florida would never have happened; also, a lot of people accidentally voted for Bush when they meant to vote for Gore.

Feel free to discuss. (Source - you’ll have to pay them to read the whole thing)

Something interesting I learned last week: women have evolved to be more selective in their partners than men. Therefore, my old argument against the existence of the friend zone (i.e. that guys do the same thing for a different reason) is invalid.
Anyone who thinks they “deserve” love is still selfish and potentially dangerous, though.

Following did-you-kno probably makes you dumber too.
This blog is awful. Why am I following it?

I wouldn’t have believed it, either, but there was actually a controlled experiment that suggested people can be made dumber by reading about other people being dumb. Perhaps saying the same about TV is a stretch, but media priming is a real thing. One sec while I go check it again, though…
…It wasn’t double-blind. And a similar but better study that’s been done several times shows the effect is reversed if the idea of stupidity is invoked by a familiar exemplar of it. I’m still not convinced Jersey Shore is a good show, though.
(Link is a PDF of a meta-analysis of all those studies. For the Google Docs version, search up “fortunately i’m no einstein”.)

keepyourcorsetstight’s last message before leaving Tumblr forever

stalebis:

“Leaving because Tumblr is full of goddamn nut jobs.

People are literally threatening to hunt me down in real life just because I said it was okay for people with pedophilic thoughts to have those thoughts UNLESS THEY DECIDE TO ACTUALLY TOUCH A REAL CHILD.

But, CLEARLY, suggesting that we shouldn’t be POLICING PEOPLE’S GODDAMN THOUGHTS makes someone deserving of death threats.

This is why you can’t have nice things Tumblr.

Good bye.”

EDIT: Okay, so, there seems to be some confusion.

This person is talking about a situation in which they made this post which I then responded to here.  This person’s girlfriend then responded like this.  She deleted that response; I kept a screencap.

I posted this because I wanted to keep a record of how they were handling and responding to the situation. I was trying to make this clear in my tags but apparently I did a bad job of it.

This post was then reblogged by this tumblr, which “discusses” (supports) pedophilia.  I requested that they make note that I did not agree with this person’s opinions.  I am unbelievably sickened by having my name associated with that tumblr, which hopefully will be deleted soon.  I’m sorry for the lack of clarity in posting this.  Thank you.

Wait, this person used to be following me? Huh.

Honestly, I’d defend KYCT if it wasn’t for the fact that all sexual fetishes are treatable with therapy. (No, sexual orientation is not fetish-based.) They’re all based on mental association - for example, not every culture in the world considers breasts to have anything to do with sex. Breaking the association and preventing its re-formation generally solves the problem.

And before anyone starts telling me this is a load of BS, it’s been done before. Zoophile. Six months of aversion therapy. Never turned on by an animal again. I have the source, but it’s on paper - if anyone asks, I’ll go look for it. Fortunately, I do have an online source for pedophilia treatment.

(Heavily edited after further research. Shock therapy doesn’t work well with pedophiles, but there are other therapies that do.)

Cats v. Dogs

Well, this explains a lot.
I actually have a few other ideas as to tendencies of cat people vs. dog people, but they’re kind of controversial. Indirectly supported by research, yes, but still controversial.
(ETA: Posting them anyway because I found more data to back them up. Atheists tend to be cat people, while theists tend to be dog people. It seems to be because religiosity and pet personality preference are both connected to the same personality aspect(s) - probably conscientiousness.)
